Gayatri Moorthy (Consultant Editor) started her career as a science teacher for middle school level. She went on to become Coordinator at Educational Planning Group, New Delhi. She has set up the Science Activity Centre at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, New Delhi, 25 years ago and continues to be associated with the school as a consultant. She was a Middle School Teacher of Science and Mathematics at the Convent of Jesus and Mary, Delhi for several years before she helped set up the Educational Planning Group, a Teachers’ In-service Training Centre at St Xavier’s School, Delhi. There she served as an organizer and resource person, conducting a wide variety of teacher training programmes. Her interest in hands-on activities in science using everyday materials, led to her setting up of the Science Activity Centre at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya ,Delhi in 1984. A similar project was started in 2004 at Blue Bells School, Delhi. She continues to serve as a consultant in both schools. An author of many years, she has written books for both Primary and Middle classes. All of them encourage students to develop thinking skills and carry out simple activities in order to understand concepts more clearly.
